BURRARD CLEAN OPERATIONS /
WESTERN CANADA MARINE RESPONSE CORPORATION

BCO Personnel

Burrard Clean Operations (BCO) is comprised of a team of spill response professionals with diverse skills and experience. Their ability to effectively manage and direct spill response procedures within the first few hours after a report significantly reduces the negative impacts oil can have on the surrounding environment. On a spill site, BCO personnel work to ensure that the situation is thoroughly assessed, response strategies are carefully devised, and resultant countermeasures are quickly deployed.

All BCO staff are trained and exercised in the Incident Command System (ICS). Incident Command team members, supervisors, vessel skippers and crew, technical assistance personnel, advisors and others are pooled both from within BCO and from its network of partners across Canada and the USA.

BCO maintains a permanent staff of twelve professionals and six part-time employees. Each of these individuals are assigned and trained in key roles within the ICS structure. The remainder of the spill management team functions are filled as required by trained personnel available to BCO through support contracts and/or mutual-aid agreements. All externally hired staff have extensive experience in their respective roles and have trained and exercised within the management structure. Documentation of all support agreements, including the qualifications of available personnel, is maintained on file at BCO.
